James Arthur Mitchell, the eldest son of Pearline W. Taylor Mitchell and the late James Lober Mitchell was born in Salisbury, Maryland on 02/21/43. He peacefully departed this life on 07/28/02 at the Veteran Administration Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.
"Jimmie" as he was affectionately called by famnily and friends, received hsi formal education in the pulic schools of Wicomico County, Maryland. He was a 1961 graduate of the former Salisbury High School. Upon his graduation he attended Salisbury Barber School. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1964 and served two years in the South Pacific and Viet Nam during the Viet Nam War.
After he received an honorable discharge in 1966, he became employed for several area businesses, including: Peninsula Roofing Company, the former Campbell Soup Company, Inc, and Park Ritchie Barber Shop in Silver Springs, Maryland. In his retirement, he enjoyed playing pool and listening to music.
He was baptized by Reverend Alexander Reid in Wetipquin, Maryland and attend Friendship United Methodist Church as a youth. He sang on the Junior Choir, a youth quartet, and participated in the Methodist Youth Fellowship (MYF) program. He was a member of the VFW Post# 10159 of Salisbury, Maryland.
Jimmie was united in holy matrimony in 1989 to Darlen Huntt who proceeded him in death on 01/28/00. He leaves to cherish loving memories with his mother, Pearline W. Mitchell of Wetipquin, Maryland; a daughter and son-in-law, Terri S. and Johnnie Dees of Hampton, Virginia; one son, Allen Mitchell of Wetipquin, Maryland; step-daughter, Stephon Hutt; five grandchildren; Courtney and Corey Dees of Hampton, Virginia, Tyron Styles and Valen Busey; two step, Asburn and Coran; a sister, Joyce Burrell of Wetipquin, Maryland; four brothers: Jerome R. Mitchell, Sr. of Salisbury, Maryland; Ronald T. Mitchell of Silver Springs, Maryland; David E. Mitchell of Baltimore, Maryland; and Bryant C. Mitchell of Salisbury, Maryland.
In addition, he proceeded in death uncles and aubts: Agnes Wilson, Lillie Mae Nutter, Priscilla Mitchell, Ethel Lewis, Alva Robinson, Edward Taylor, Larry Taylor, Sr., Victor Taylor, Amelia Maxwell, and Christine Williams, neices, nephews and a host of other relatives, extended family and friends. A sister Linda Mitchell and a nephew, Kevin Muithell proceeded him in death.
